Take the nuclear option, or we die

Nuclear waste disposal, or the storage of it, brings out a heap of emotional comments, mostly devoid of scientific evaluation.

It is without doubt nasty stuff but at the same time so are the emissions of the fossil fuel energy producers.

The Gibson Desert is a geologically stable area and has been so for hundreds of thousands of years. Take a 5sq.km piece of it and you could store the world's nuclear waste deposits.

A mine, with 1000m deep shafts with levels at 100m, complete with all of the drives and cross-cuts leading to secure waste receptors, is no major undertaking. We are pretty good at mining!

It would be a huge industry boost to WA and an environmental saviour that has got to happen. If we don't do it, we die in the not-so-long term.
