It is without doubt nasty stuff but at the same time so are the emissions of the fossil fuel energy producers. The Gibson Desert is a geologically stable area and has been so for hundreds of thousands of years. Take a 5sq.km piece of it and you could store the world's nuclear waste deposits. A mine, with 1000m deep shafts with levels at 100m, complete with all of the drives and cross-cuts leading to secure waste receptors, is no major undertaking. We are pretty good at mining! It would be a huge industry boost to WA and an environmental saviour that has got to happen. If we don't do it, we die in the not-so-long term.
