Everyone is welcome to observe Invasion Day at
the Old Swan Brewery, also called the Waugil Site,
says long-time Aboriginal activist Clarrie
Isaacs.
Mr Isaacs, who in 1980 was given the Aboriginal
name Yaluritja, meaning "Bird of Thunder", invited
people with boats to visit the Waugil Site and fly
the Aboriginal flag on Sunday, January 26, which
other Australians observe as Australia Day.
He said he wanted the gathering to be really
nice and peaceful.
It would start at 8.30am and finish at noon.
"First people will gather at the Waugil Site and
later on go walkabout to the 'other event' at the
Esplanade," he said.
