The joint ticket to get to and enter the Royal
Agricultural Show has been scrapped.
The Showrider ticket had the price of entry and
a train or bus ticket to the show included on the
one ticket.
A spokeswoman for the Royal Agricultural Society
said that due to changes in rail wholesale pricing
structures the Showrider ticket did not represent a
saving for customers and was not warranted.
A spokeswoman from Transperth said the
organisation had worked very hard with the RAS to
try to get the Showrider tickets for this year.
She said: "We really wanted to join the tickets
together but the new numbering system made it very
difficult."
She said she expected some people to assume the
Showrider tickets would be available and that some
people would be inconvenienced.
Although the Showrider had been popular there
had not been an overwhelming response to it.
"Many people who are used to riding on public
transport already own a Mulitrider, and they use
that," the spokeswoman said.
She said people should buy their tickets early
to avoid queues on the way to the show. The best
deals were a Familyrider, which allowed two adults
and five children to travel for $7.10, or a
Dayrider.
Neither ticket was valid before 9am or on the
first day of the show.
Tickets can be bought at Newspower agencies,
Transperth information centres or at the central
train station.
There will be extra trains running regularly
throughout show week, September 28 to October
6.
